Huh, that's interesting, not much faster than the 3 ghz Mac Pro Quad or the Power Mac G5 2.5 ghz Quad.

I just installed our 8 core. Huge step up from the dual 2.7- my FCP filters render more than twice as fast now but that should be expected.

I'm pretty impressed with editing 720p60 AIC HD while compressor happily encodes in the background. You wouldn't even know it!

I think it's strength is multi-tasking, but I hope the programmers can make the rendering even faster in later versions.
