Josh,
I haven't used the V1u in about 20 months, and I wasn't the editor on the project, just the shooter. I've only been using the EX1 which shoots native 24p without a pulldown since it's tapeless. However, if I go to tape or disc, a pulldown is automatically put in so TVs can play it. Why do you want to remove the pulldown? Even if you did, FCP puts it back in automatically unless you stay digital, ie, web, download, etc. Heath

re:
Mistyped. Don't want to remove the pulldown (too many long days lately has killed some of my ability to summarize as effectively). Basically, here's the situation:
I've had my V1U for 4 years. But because it was always a pain after shooting 24P to actually get 24P in FCP, or to have to use programs like JES Deinterlacer, I never shot 24P. Also as a videographer for mostly web stuff in was essentially unnecessary. But now I'm shooting a documentary, and I'd like to film it in 24P. So I was curious if FCP & worked out it strange initial workflow where working with 24P was such a pain. So that I can get the look and feel I'm hoping for. I've read that ProRes 422 capture can automatically guess the cadence as long as I shoot 24P A. Is that the most viable option? Only downside to to that is it quadruples my files size as well. |
