ATI Radeon 9600 Pro & Color(FCP)
I use a G5(power pc) tower running at 2Ghz, and my card is an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro. I am awaiting FCS 2 to edit HDV footage for my video business. Is my graphics card going to work with color? My card isn't mentioned in the requirements for the color application, although it is for the others.
I also would like to know how much, if at all, I would benefit by upgrading graphics cards? Is it a considerable difference? I am a little lost in identifying the pros/cons of this issue, since I don't know too much about graphics cards. |

Welll, nobody seems to have any thoughts to offer?
Upon further review I see that I would have to upgrade to an AGP card with my hardware, so my option is probably the ATI RADEON X800 xt. But I don't know how it will translate when I am editing, rendering, encoding etc? Anybody? What would this do for me, if anything? I could care less about gaming, this is strictly for editing workflow. |

I'm not sure how much it will affect your rendering and encoding, but the faster the card the more realtime playback you can get in Motion, plus I think some of the new FX Plug filters in Final Cut 5.1.2 and later use your graphics card for realtime playback, but I'm not 100% sure on that.
