mpg files make FCP 5.1.3 crash
I have these 2 .mpg files I'm trying to work with. In the timeline, if I so much as touch one, click on it, etc, FCP will crash.
I suppose I could export as .mov files but will I lose any quality? thanks, elmer |

I am exporting my .mpg files as .mov files, choosing
compression: none frame rate: current depth: thousands of colors quality: best Does that seem best? Maybe the depth should be 'millions of colors' or 'millions of colors+'? thanks, elmer |

I exported as .mov file. When I tried importing into FCP I get an error message: "File error: 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown."
That's odd. Any ideas? thanks, elmer |

You need to convert the MPEG file to a .mov file, but one of the correct specs.
Since chances are the rest of your material is in DV, bring the MPEGs into a Compressor batch, and convert to one of the DV presets in Compressor.

Thanks, you're absolutely right, Compressor did it, and I imported into FCP no problem.
