Quality Quicktime to Mp4 conversion
Hi:
I have been dissatisfied with FCP 5.1.2's ability to export quicktime files as mp4. I have noticed a significant drop in image quality that I have not seen with similar conversion of AVi files to mp4. An internet search suggested that Sorensen Squeeze might fit the bill but there have been a bunch of reviews indicating problems both with the program and the developer's alleged shoddy support. Therefore, I wonder if anyone has found a Mac OSX compatible program that is capable of accomplishing the conversion with a better result than FCP? Thank you in advance, Ron |

Ronald,
All I ever use is iSquint. It does a great job and it's free. Here is the link: http://www.isquint.org/ |

I'm a little confused as to what you're converting so I have two responses...
1) If you want to export out of FCP as a mp4 quicktime file...just use Compressor (comes with Final Cut Studio) works like a charm... 2) If you are trying to transcode an existing Quicktime file that is not currently mp4 into an mp4 file...use Quicktime Pro's export settings...(also comes with Final Cut Studio) Hope one of these two is what you're looking for... |
