Getting error when transferring 90 GB FCP docs folder from HD to external mybook
I get an error on my iMac (Intel) when transferring my folder to the Western Digital MyBook (500GB). I have 417 GB left on it and I am using the Firewire 400.
Is there another way I am overlooking to transfer this data? My project is on it and I need to remove it before sending the iMac back to Apple today (iMac screen developed a green line down the middle of the screen) to get my replacement. Thanks for any help you can provide. Gilbert |

I would suggest using one of the various programs for cloning hard drives. That way you will have an exact copy of everything on your iMac and can restore the whole drive if needed. There are shareware and freeware versions which I've read about but not used.
I have been using Intego's "Personal Backup" program for this, file sync, and other things for over 2 years without any problems. When copying big files it's also faster than the finder in my experience. Of course, your mileage may vary.... I'm using a PowerBook G4 and dual G5 desktop, no experience with the Intel machines. http://www.intego.com/personalbackup/ |
