XH-G1 HD-SD1 out low cost solution?

I'd like to buy an XH-G1 if I could use the HD-SDI out because I
understand that is uncompressed HD. I can't do this with a deck
because they are WAY too expensive for me to buy or rent. That's
definitely out. Is there any other way to utilize the HD-SDI out to
ultimately get it into Final Cut Pro?

Also, say I did one project at a time such as a twelve minute short.
Typically I could have two hours raw footage, maybe need to capture
60% of that. What kind of storage would I need with external drives
for Final Cut Pro?

I am somewhat ignorant here (obviously.) This "uncompressed HD" -
what is its proper name and under what settings would it or could it
be edited in Final Cut Pro? Also, I am interested in editing in 24F.

For HDV projects:
I have never edited HDV before. My vendor said that it would make my
MacBookPro run like a car going at 7000 r.p.m.. Somebody else told me
that the MacBookPro with Final Cut Pro could go through HDV like hot
butter. Incidentally, the vendor who said 7000 r.p.m. is not necesssarily
pushing the HVX-200; instead he's recommended that I go with the
Canon but he did make that statement about the editing.

I'm ready to buy a camera but want to make sure that I make the right
choice. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Moved to our FCP forum from Canon XH as these questions have more to do with Final Cut than the camera itself.
