quicktime that will work on a pc
hi,
I'm exporting minidv NTSC footage using FILE>EXPORT>QUICKTIME MOVIE The result is a "Final Cut Pro Movie File". This will open using quicktime player on my mac. I want to show the project on a PC though. The PC won't open the Final Cut Pro Movie File. I tried opening the FCP Movie File on my mac quicktime player and exporting it as a quicktime file. This second generation file can be opened by PC quicktime player, but even with the export setting set to the best, there is still huge degradation in the image. Is there any way to export a PC readable file from a FCP mac project (either in FCP itself or some other programme)? Thanks for any help! Tim |

Hi Tim,
When you use FILE>EXPORT>use Using Quicktime Conversion Then using the format quictime movie select options. then select in the Video - DV/DVCPRO - NTSC Quality Best Under sound select Linear PCM 16 bit 48.000 kHz then save. See if this helps. Paul Kirby |

What quality do you need? Is a web ready file acceptable? You could create a Video_TS file via DVDStudio Pro and play that. Or just make a DVD.

I had a few problems playing and encoding Microsoft DV AVIs in Quicktime Pro version 7.1.0 on PC, however (!) after I uppgraded to QTPro version 7.1.3 (latest) it had no problems. Perhaps check your version?
