Does 512mb make a difference
Hi all,
I'm pretty much a newbie to all this and have been lurking around for some time and gaining lots of knowledge in the process. I have just changed from the PC to the Mac, iMac 2GHz Intel Core Duo/512MB OSX10.4.8, and would like to add extra memory. Ive just looked on the Crucial Web Site . For a 2Gb single stick, the price is £794.29 very, very expensive, where as a 2Gb kit, 1Gb stick x2, is £212.00, a very big price drop, and a single 1Gb stick is £111.00. So you can see my problem. Do I go for the 2Gb kit or the 1Gb single stick and just have a total of 1.5Gb. I'm wont be filming HD, mainly wild life on an XM2 so is the lack of 512Mb going to make a great deal of difference in editing terms. Thanks for your time Steve |

Steve, looks like a single 2GB stick is simply not economic. (Probably something to do with yields of working RAM chips).
Also have a look at the MacUpgrades site here as well. Maybe they do 2GB at a better price. I would go for 2x1GB, and sell off your 512MB stick on eBay.
