am I missing something?
I just upgraded to the FCP crossgrade and then updated the software to 5.1.2 and captured my first HDV clips.
My question is do you always have to render the captured HDV files as soon as they're on the timeline or am i missing a setting or something?. Its all working fine apart from needing renderd immediately which would get pretty annoying when editing a feature length project. Any incite would be much appreciated. Andy.

If you are capturing HDV clips and importing it within an HDV timeline, you should not need to render it. Make sure that the settings of your captured clips are matching the settings of your timeline. Usually using the FCP "Easy Set-up" configures all the settings for you.
