Importing 16.9 in Apple Final Cut Pro (FCP)

Does anyone have any info on capturing 16.9 video in Final Cut Pro. during my last edit i captured using NTSC 4.3 anomorphic settings.

The video's looked fat and i the images had the black bars on the top of the image.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
James

That should have worked for you. Basically all you need to do is make sure the anamorphic box is checked. But from what you describe, the clips were probably captured correctly but you had something wrong with your sequence settings. I think this might happen if you drop clips into a 4:3 sequence and then later change the sequence to anamorphic.

Close all open windows in FCP, then choose Easy Setup from the FCP menu. Click the Show All checkbox. Now pull the menu down to DV-NTSC Anamorphic. This will insure that all future clips and sequences are properly configured. Now create a new project, capture some footage and drop it into a sequence. Everything should now be correct.
