dual quad core Xeon time table?
I know this is a bit too early to get a solid date, but Intel is releasing chips next month with (4) cores on one chip and they supposedly DO work in the new Macs.
So, any idea when Apple will release the next batch of Mac Pro towers? Anyone care to speculate? I need to switch to FCP and it's more of a matter of when then if. I'd like to get the lastest and greatest and not upgrade for 3 years if at all possible. Thanks in advance! Jeff |

I think someone on arstechnica already swapped out to a quad core without too much trouble, (I think they called it the octomac) anyhow, it may be worthwhile to just buy a mac pro and upgrade the processors as they are released. I don't think apple will be releasing a new pac pro before the next 6 months are up.

Mac has a recent history of leaving users in the dust. Remember, the Quad PowerPC is not even a year old and not one single upgrade card was ever released for it... what you got from Apple, is what you got PERIOD! I learned my lesson, I will be waiting for the new "octo" macs as I bet they come by Jan at the latest...
