Where to buy?

I'm new to NLE's and decided to purchase a G4. Where is good place to buy one without paying tax and without getting ripped off? Would B&H be a good place to buy one?

Zotz Digital, one of the sponsors of this site, is an Apple dealer. Give Brian a call and I'm sure he can help you out.

If you are a business and you are buying Computer equipment for video production you can buy it TAX Free! Any reputable video dealer will know about this and can supply the proper form for you to sign. And B&H doesn't charge tax if you are outside of NY.

Sales tax is governed by state laws. Texas may have a law exempting computer sales from sales tax, but Florida does not. Check with your state taxation agency for clarification.

That could be true, the preface is that if you sell a product and it is suciptable to sales tax, as a video could be, then the tools used in the creation are not taxed, otherwise you would be falling under double taxation which federal law protects you from.
It would either be advantageous to find out the rules in your area or just buy online or by mail order and avoid it all together.

Your state can require you to pay the tax, however, the seller is not required to report the sale to the state.
