MTV Music Video Font
Hello everyone,
I am trying to imitate MTV's font and size. Does anybody know what do they use for their music videos for the credit (i.e Artist, Label, Directed by...) Please advise. Gilbert. |

I don't think those credits are part of the actual video itself, but rather a computer that adds the info during broadcast. Otherwise, there would be no consistancy between music videos. Each video would have a different font/info.
If it were up to me, I wouldn't try to make my video look "MTV" anyway. There are way better fonts out there. |

Gilbert, you may already know this, but if you are delivering a music video for broadcast, Scott is right. The "chyron" is done at airtime.
As far as the font, it's been suggested that it's Futura.

I got into this a while back... I had a project with a music video, and I was going to use the same font. It's not Futara... I used to have an old Postscript font that almost looked exactly like it. I'll have to dig around through some of my old CDs and see if I still have it.
I've always heard the "real" chyron font for MTV was custom made |
