How to Letterbox 16:9 footage?
I'm shooting native 16:9 footage on my XL2, and want to broadcast it on 4:3 screens. What's the easiest way to handle this with FCP so that this 16:9 footage is letterboxed? Thanks.

If you burn it to an anamorphic DVD then the user's DVD player would automatically letterbox. But if you want to create a letterboxed version in FCP that's very simple too. Just create a new 4:3 sequence (or create a 16:9 sequence, then go to its settings and un-check the anamorphic box. Now drop your 16:9 clips into that 4:3 sequence. You're all set; FCP will automatically letterbox. If you've already edited a 16:9 sequence then you could drop it into a 4:3 sequence and you've have two versions.
It will require rendering however. |
