FCP Studio 5.1.1 update

Okay... I have yet to receive my FCS x-grade, so could someone let me know what features have been added to this update? Support for the HD100 and H1 perhaps?

Thanks.

I don't think there are any new features other than compatibility with the Intel machines, but perhaps others will have some more information. Also see:

Thanks Boyd. I read that thread but saw this http://www.macworld.com/news/2006/06...apps/index.php on Macworld this morning and thought that it may be something new. Guess I was being overly optimistic.

Thanks again.

It does reportedly offer a performance increase on G5 machines such as slightly better render times. I guess you could call that a 'feature'.

Does the new XDCam HD update come with the 5.0 version, or will us non-Intel folk need to get the 5.1 Universal update?

I didn't see FCP 5.0.7...Did you mean OS X 10.4.7?

Updating X-grade FCP on PowerMac G5 2.7 duals

Seeking advice!

I've installed and running for 6 weeks the X-grade on my MacBookPro 15", Intel duals, with 2GB ram.

But, have held back doing the same on my G5 where 95% of my Pro Apps projects are. What issues / concerns should I have before installing the x-grade software on my G5? (The G5 has the dual 2.7 IBM chips).

Thanks,

Sam

Nothing that I know of...it's Universal, for PPC and Intel.

Thanks Heath.
I didn't want to do the cross over upgrade and have it crash on my G5.

Sam, make sure you have the latest version of Quicktime installed before you install FCS. It's also a good idea to make sure you have all the latest OS updates, drivers, etc.

Tks, hadn't considered that. Also held off doing that latest updates due to any possible bugs. But will proceed with that before intalling the unversal version of FCP_S.

Doh! Yes, I was referring to the OS update 10.4.7 and got my wires crossed thinking of FCP while I posted.

But the update to OSX and update to FCP 5.1.1 adds support for XDCAM import just like P2 on the import menu.

Unfortunately, we're still waiting on Sony's piece of software that FCP is going to try and open when you select the XDCAM import option.
