Capturing Directly to Laptop
I'm using FC Studio 5.1 and I'm trying to skip the logging and capturing part. Can I hook my camera up to my computer via firewireand then record my voice over directly into final cut pro?
In other words, can I skip the whole "going to tape part" and just do what a lot of HVX users seem to be able to do? |

You can most definitely do that, there are two ways that I know of, first if you want to capture video and audio hook up your camera via firewire go to log and capture and change your capture device to non controlable device then just hit capture now and esc to stop. If you only want the audio hook up your camera and go to tools voice over, there is an option there to use a built in mic, or your camera just hit the record button and start talking. Hope that helps.

Nate, Brilliant. I've seen people doing that a couple times, but I couldn't figure out where to go to get there. Last night, I finished up my project doing the whole "record to camera and then capture" thing, but I'm looking forward to a better workflow next time. thanks.
