No Tool Bench

Hi Guys (and Gals), just a quick question, my FCP 4.5 tool bench has dissappeared. The option for it under <Window> has grayed out leaving me no way to open it up. I just trashed the .plist and it did not change anything. Any help would be great. Thanks, John Christensen

Hey John, just look under the Tools menu for the window you want like frame viewer... each time you choose one of those it will open it in a new tab in the "tool bench" then you can just break off the tabs and put them wherever you like.

Sorry Nate, I was looking for my tool bench that has my Razor's, Keystone Stuff, and Selection Tools. (little skiny gray tool bar, same size as the audio level meter) John Christensen

That should be under the window menu but it's called the tool pallette it shouldn't be grayed out, you should just be able to toggle it on and off in that menu.

Except for the small problem that it is grayed out. My computer is a Dual 2.0ghz PowerMac G5 with 2 GB RAM. Any Help with my problem would be great. It is hard to edit without my tools. :) John

That is weird! Try going under the window menu again and choose arrange - standard. The only other thing I can think of is did you have FCP open when you trashed the prefs?

Do you have a sequence open? I remember scaring the *&^# out of myself when using someone else's mac and everything went away and stuff was greyed out. It was because I didn't have any sequences open. Just a thought.

???

OK, I tried the arrange-standard and my tool bench came back. Yah!!! But the option for it under <window> is still grayed out. FCP was not open when I trashed the plist. And yes I do have a sequence open. It remains a question of why the option is still grayed out, but at least I can edit again. So for that I say a BIG Thank You, Guys.

P.S. If anyone knows why the option may be grayed out please let me know.
