Capture HDV 1080i60 in FCP5.1

Has anyone had success capturing HDV from Sony HDR-HC3 in FCP5.1 ?

I'm getting "unable to initialize." I launch FCP with camcorder ON, camcorder is set for HDV output, camcorder is set to PLAY/EDIT, FCP is set for HDV 1080i60 capture, I've tried different firewire cables, several restarts, no luck. Has anyone been successful with FCP5.1 capturing from this camcorder? Thanks.

I guess I'll just reply to my own post... an update if anyone cares...

After about 6 hours of troubleshooting I decided to trash preferences. Many would have tried this sooner but in my infinite wisdom I dismissed this as a possible solution because in 4 years with Macs it had never once solved a problem. I trashed preferences and relaunched FCP and presto - camera recognized. I still can't believe it.
