Quicktime Pro 7 and FCP 4.5
Hi, my question is simple do I need quicktime 7 (free) to export H.264 files out of FCP 4.5. I curently have seven (free) installed but I have a Quicktime Pro 6 key. Can I use 6 Pro and still export H.264 files from FCP 4.5 or do I HAVE to have 7? Thanks

You need to buy a new key for QT 7 PRO in order to export to H.264. OR, if you have iMovie HD installed you can export from there without a QT 7 PRO key.

Quicktime 7 Pro
No offense, but I've been exporting H.264 files from FCP 4.5 for two months without any pro key and it works just fine. The copy of iMovie I have is 4 not HD. So whats going on? John

You need QT7 to export or play H.264 through QuickTime applications, but you don't need QT7 Pro to do this with FCP. Just like QT6, QT7 allows you to export QT movies out of FCP using all of the important codecs but without all of the options and control that QT pro provides. QT7 pro just gives you more features and options for export.
