Help!
Okay,I have an Imac G3(DV) with FCP 3.
It is NOT the computer I use for editing, but more for small previews or short trailers. I was editing a trailer the other day and when I shot the project down and would like to open it, it said: Cannot open file! WHY! I have never experienced this before. Please help me! - Christian |

Can you tell us a little more? Was the file originally created on that same computer? What operating system (OSX, OS9)? Can you open other FCP files on the same computer? How much RAM do you have? How much free disk space? Is that all the error message says? Does FCP start up and then give you that message, or does the message come from the Finder with FCP failing to open?

Sounds like it might have gotten corrupted. FCP 3 makes a backup periodically based on a time set in the preferences. Look in your Final Cuts Documents folder for another folder with the word vault in it. You'll find backups of your project file. It's better than nothing.
