FCP 5 stereo audio issues

Anyone else having this issue?

I've got a stereo .aif (background music) in A1 and A2. Two seperate obviously stereo channels of audio. Play it back through built-in audio, or external audio out - whatever.. all is great.

Sometime later (usually after I've closed FC down, rebooted, etc - haven't been able to determine the length of time yet), audio stops playing back in stereo. Two speakers are playing (well, you hear audio from both left and right) but both speakers are playing the same thing, giving the impression of mono audio. I'm not sure if the audio is the left track, right track, or both mixed.

It took me a while to figure out a fix but reconnecting the media takes care of it. It's really quite annoying though, and I've been burned on exports by not realizing until after the fact the audio is fubar.

Anyone?

The Pan slider isn't at issue here - tried that (also, once the audio gets screwed up, changing the Pan value makes no difference).

This post at the apple forum discusses the same problem.

Same thing happened to me Patrick. I messed around a bit and found that if you select the audio tracks and go the modify menu and choose stereo pair that seems to fix the problem.

Sequence Presets

Just a guess but if you have your sequence set up so that all tracks are laid down in the timeline as mono tracks that could be your problem. I know that when I import audio from the camera that tracks 1 and 2 are both mono(assigned L+R) channels as opposed to left or right. I would assume that FCP is conforming the audio to the sequence presets. If you double click the master clip and bring it up in the viewer is it still dual mono?
