Final cut xpress 2 - video blending/fades
Hi,
Anyone know how i can get a video to play but have the video faded, not via opacity but like from the left to right, the left being the normal video as it goes to the right it fades out, whilst playing? like a gradient fade option? So i can have to videos playing at the same time on different video lines, blended into each other. Or have a video blended into an image via the gradient blend. Hope these examples help regards Ismail |

If you have photoshop you can make a gradient just using black and white choose the preset with the icon that gradients from black to "checkerboard" which is the alpha channel where your video will show through. Just save it as a .psd and drop it above your video

What you want to do can be done with Masks. Go to FCP Help and search for "Image Mask Filter". Basically, you add the filter to the video and then drag drop the image mask (a BW gradient image in your case) onto the image drop zone on the filter. It's all explained in the help. I used it just a couple days ago.
