All my audio is panned left (-1) in FCP
Hi guys,
Admittedly, I'm not an audio guy, but I'm having an odd issue I've never dealt with before. All my audio clips are panned -1 (left) in FCP. Which is odd enough, but I when listening through headphones it sounds fine. When I manually drag the slider to a 0 (center) position I can't tell a difference. I suspected that it may have something to do with the way we recorded the audio. We used an AudioTechnica shotgun mic, ran through a mixer and onto my hard drive. But then I noticed any music I imported was also panned left. The only audio clips which are centered by themselves are the clips straight from the T2i's onboard mic, which are originally connected to the video files. Any idea what I'm dealing with here? Could it be a setting within FCP? At the moment I'm going through and just manually panning the audio to 0, because even though I can't hear a difference I am suspicious. |

In fcp right click the audio track in the timeline and select send to sound logic as audio file project
Do you have waveforms in both tracks? If not then maybe your playback system is in mono mode. Alternatively you may have imported them as mono I stead of stereo |

Thanks for reply. I don't have logic or a send to sound logic option, but I do have Soundtrack pro. Is that the same basic principle?
I do have waveforms in both tracks (both in FCP's audio editor and in soundtrack pro.) So I suspect it's not a mono/stereo issue. |

I've attached a screen cap of my situation just in case I'm not eloquent enough to describe it properly.

Yes I meant soundtrack pro. But FCP is showing you have waveforms in both channels. The pan is getting set to -1 some where. Most likely during import.
