AU Pitch and Cracking/Distorting/Hissing
Hi all,
I'm working with AUPitch on a clip in my timeline. I'm trying to bump the pitch slightly (between 25 and 100 in AU Pitch) and with a large number of my clips I get a cracking distortion like there was a break in the microphone (similar sound, but not the actual cause). I've narrowed it down to AU Pitch, but nothing I do seems to help. Anybody who has used AUPitch realizes there are a lot of options within the effect. Am I missing a specific one that will help this problem go away? Rate is 48.0 KHz, 24-bit Integer, recorded with a 702T in .wav format on a cold December day. |

Re: AU Pitch and Cracking/Distorting/Hissing
That frequently indicates that there is imperfections in the audio track that are not apparent when it is played normally. You can try using the audio compressor filter to control levels before applying the AU pitch or you can try to EQ the track first. You might find that the problems are associated with a certain frequency. I just help someone with the same problem and it turned out that the hand mike they used had a lot of rumble and low frequency air pops, we used the EQ in GarageBand to EQ out the low frequencies and then applied the pitch adjustment. The sound problems went away.
