Motion Menu -> Final Cut Express -> iDVD
Hi, it's me again...
Am hoping someone can enlighten me on this. I compiled a DVD in iDVD, which was exported from Final Cut Express. A motion menu was created in Final Cut as well and there are 6 items on the DVD. On placing the DVD disc into a Sony DVD Player/Recorder, the motion menu did not start and the television screen remained grey. I had to press "Menu" on the remote control to get the menu started. However, in a PC, using Nero Movie Player, the motion menu started immediately. I'm wondering if something is up with the disc or might I have to do some remedial action before burning it in iDVD? Also, the menu is looping and there is a point (around the 4th second after looping around) that it sticks briefly. I'm thinking the disc may be bad, or the Mac needed to restart before burning. I'd appreciate any thoughts about it. Thanks and regards, Helen. |

Re: Motion Menu -> Final Cut Express -> iDVD
While iDVD does make DVD-compatible disks those data images are not ISO-compatible and have always had issues with various DVD players. However, a Blu-Ray player (which is backwards compatible with DVD) would probably have played the disk just fine because it has much more sophisticated internal codec and error correction technology.
The latest version of iDVD (on the iLife bundle) has had many corrections made to it's internal coding and how it makes it's final DVD data images; most likely if you upgrade to the newest version this issue will clear itself. |
