Renaming clips from Firestore and sd cards
Is there any reason not to rename clips in the finder after dumping from Firestore or sd card.
Ie: from "376_0504_01.MOV" to "sc16 take 2.mov" Or is it best to keep the timestamped filename and rename in FCP. I'm thinking renaming in the finder will make it easier to organise things down the track. And the original stuff will be trashed from the sd cards and firestore anyway. Thanks joe |

Yes.
You may someday need to go back to your original FS dumps & relink to those original files. If you rename them in your FCP project & loose the media or even just the connection to the media, you may never be able to figure out which files are which. |

Thanks for the response.
So probably best to keep the file and clip name intact and add the details in the description/shot/take/fields in FCP. Thanks Joe |

Yup, that's the best practice, IMO.
