Editing on a MACBOOK PRO / External Monitor
Hello, I recently just acquired a 22" Dell Monitor, very nice but when I hook it up to my 15" macbook pro, the image is stretched on the Dell Monitor. Is there a way to change the resolution on that screen without changing anything on my macbook screen?
thanks |

Dell Monitor and a MBP
Have you tried setting the Dell up within System Preferences>Displays>Detect Displays...? (and then the options in there should be self explanatory)...but 2 years ago when I switched (mainly) to Macs for most of my workflow this type of stuff used to have me scratching my head sometimes too!
When I just started on Mac I used to edit on a 24 inch Dell driven as a 2nd screen from my MBP, much like you now want to do - but now typically use two 24 inch Dells on this Mac Pro (it's a wonderful way to work in many ways!). The window you need to get to looks something like the attachment I've just grabbed off one of the screens on this Mac Pro. You should (from memory) be able to set up each screen exactly how you want it to be, or if you just want to use the Dell solo then that is an option too. Hope this pointer helps!
