Powerbook WTF!!

Okay...so...my 15" powerbook order has been delayed 3 times...WTF...it's been a week and 4 days since I've ordered it. I mean...I'm spending a small fortune on this...the least they could do is actually ship it to me. ARG WTF

Anyone else have/having problems?

If you can afford to wait, you will probably end up with a nicer machine in the end. I posted to your other thread about a guy who had to wait over a month before he finally got his PowerBook, but when he did, it was certainly worth the wait. He ended up with a faster computer, with more features, the same basic options, all for less money. Unfortunately, his order got cancelled once and had to be reordered, but I think that's because it was ordered through an Apple Specialist and not directly from the Apple website (Apple has a bad reputation of doing that to Specialist Stores). The down side is that you don't know how much of an upgrade you'll be receiving.

If you really need one now, especially if for business, you might consider cancelling the order and heading to an Apple Specialist (I would recomend Haddock in north OKC) to purchase a PowerBook that they have in stock. Of course, it will be the generation that is apparently going to be surpassed soon. Its a gamble either way.

I'm sure you're doing this, but just in case, check your order status on Apple.com regularly. It gets annoying to see the "ship by:" date keep getting higher and higher, but at least you know the order is still processing.

Well if it's any consolation, a friend just told me they ordered a stock 15" 1.67ghz Powerbook from MacMall and it took 2 weeks...

I had the same thing...

My G5 took 10 days for them to ship. I assumed it was because they had to build it but even after they emailed the tracking # it took a few days before it actually shipped out. It was worth the wait though. All said and done I waited 15 days from the time I hung up the phone after placing the order.

They estimate 8/2 is when it will ship now. 2 weeks after I ordered. They said it was due to an increase in sales volume. But they gave me free overnight shipping when it does ship and $100 credit towards a hard drive. Not bad eh?

I'm experiencing the same thing with my G5. I ordered it 2 weeks ago and just got an e-mail pushing it back once again to 8/5. I called Apple and complained and got a couple hundred bucks knocked off and they added overnight shipping when it's ready.

They told me that for mine, dual 2.3, it's because of such a high demand right now on the g5's that they have been delayed. I don't know if this is the same case with the powerbooks or not.

On the other hand, I got my FCP Studio upgrade the day after I ordered it.
