Exporting QT to add effect in PS, then back to FC.

Greetings.

What is the proper way to export a sequence (say one minute or so) so that I can add some visual effects in Photoshop Extended 5 and then send that back to FC without losing image quality?

I assume that the first step is to export a QT self contained file from FC, then open that in PS, add effect(s), and then use some setting to export that back to a file that FC.

Would I use the animation setting? Let me know if you need more info than I've given here. I assume that not only will I have to render in PS, but also in FC when the file is re-imported.

Your help appreciated.

This really depends on what your original footage is. If it's a lossy codec like HDV, then you're better off using a codec like ProRes or uncompressed. If it's a better quality codec like DVCPro HD, then you can stay in that codec.
