Someone Please Help!
I had a problem earlier today with Apple's Compressor Application (bundled with FCP and Studio Pro)
I was getting an error message "Cannot Access Background Process" whenever I tried to encode anything. Well... To make a long story short i found an support article on Apple's website outling the fix. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93234 I applied the fix step...by step... And now my compressor dosen't load anymore! I should have known better than to try Apples fix...i used to be a Systems Administrator before entering into the Wedding Videographer Field... MY EMOTIONS GOT THE BEST OF ME AND I STARTED TO THINK IRRATIONALLY...ALL LOGIC...and every ounce of my training went out the window! I deleted a package called CompressorUpdate Located in the following directory /Library/Frameworks --------------------------- And CompressorUpdate1.2.pkg Located in the followind directory /Library/Receipts ---------------------------- Would anyone be willing to copy those files and folders and upload them to my idisk...this way i can get compressor up and running again? I would be forever grateful! Thanks James |

Hi James, sorry to hear about your problems. That compressor problem is a known issue which has been discussed a lot on Apple's site. I moved your post to our Mac forum where it should be and also changed the thread title to something more descriptive.
It sounds like you need to reinstall Compressor and then download the update to v 1.2 to get things working. The update can be found on Apple's site here: http://www.apple.com/support/downloa...sorupdate.html You might also want to visit Apple's Compressor support forum where there is always a lot of helpful info: http://discussions.info.apple.com/we...l.0@compressor |

Another Thought
In the interim, until your Compressor issues are resolved, why not transcode your footage in FCP to mpg2 by exporting through Quicktime Conversion?
