FCP5 Render after capture??
Hey guys. I'm using fcp5 with an fx1 to capture 1080i footage. after i capture the footage, i can view it in the viewer, but if i try to drag it to a timeline, it requires a render. is this unavoidable? its a ridiculous amount of render time that im having to go through. does everyone have to render before they can edit hdv in fcp5? is there a resource for UP TO DATE workflow information? i searched all through this forum for an answer to my initial question, and i hope im not repeating something already answered.
im feeling like it shouldnt be this way. theres got to be something wrong with my settings. help please! heath

I can't offer any direct solutions since I haven't used FCP 5 yet. However, with every other version of FCP the conditions you describe occur when the clip settings don't agree with the sequence settings. Look very closely at your clip and sequence properties and see if anything is different. If so then change the sequence settings to match those of the clips.

Your sequence settings should be:
Frame Size: HD (1440X1080) (16:9) Pixed Aspect Ratio: HD(1440X1080) - Do NOT check anamorphic box Field Dominance: Upper (Odd) Compressor: HDV 1080i60 Audio Settings: 48Khz 16-bit, Config-default |
