Export is too bright

Hey guys. I'm having trouble exporting in FCE. The product comes out way brighter than the original footage. It does this in Export Quicktime Movie and Quicktime Conversion. I've had FCE for 2 years and it only just started doing this. I can compensate my putting a -8 or -10 darkness filter on it, but it just sucks to spend a lot of time color correcting, only to drop a -10 darkness over it all. And that's just a trial and error thing, it still doesn't come out exactly like I'm seeing it when editing.

Is anyone having these problems? I've heard this problem mentioned before but don't know how to fix it. Thanks,

Scott

Suspecting you recently did a QuickTime update. I BELIEVE it is QT X that is at the heart of this.

Hmmm... yep, when I upgraded to Snow Leopard, it added the newest QT, and that's about how long it's been doing it I think. Has anyone else encountered the same problem?

Are you looking at your video in Quicktime 7 or QTX? First thing I did with snow leopard was install QT7 -I don't even use X.

Anyway if you are using 7 you can go into your Quicktime preferences and check "Enable Final Cut studio color compatibility"
