Exporting Stills from Timeline in FCP7....broken?

I can't seem to get good quality timeline stills from my HDV 1080 24 footage. The previous version of FCP would export the original 1440x1080 HDV frame, and I would simply open it up on Photoshop and resize the vertical to 1920. The images turned out pristine this way, especially considering the source footage is progressive.

Now with Final Cut Pro 7 my exported timeline stills are already converted to the 16x9 aspect ratio and they all exhibit terrible aliasing, regardless of what still settings I choose. Any idea of the cause for this and is there a fix/work-around available?
