I hope. No word on timecode support for HDV and how it actually edits with it will have to be seen to be believed. But it says native HDV editing with no generation loss. So we'll see what that means. Can't wait to check it out.

HD DVDs are getting me giddy as well.

I'm loving this update!!

Soundtrack Pro looks VERY cool.

Motion 2 rocks!! I just hope it's very stable.

Final Cut Pro looks good as well.

Shake 4 has the integration with FCP that we've all wanted.

DVD SP 4- Did anyone notice the distributed rendering for h.264 compression. Trust me when you see what this codec requires for power you'll like having that option.

It all looks good! Notice however they are saying 4 to 6 weeks before shipping. About a month ago I upgraded to FCP HD from FCP 3. I thought about waiting, but I have a big project due in June. This make me feel I made the right decision... the new version wouldn't be ready in time for me.

Next fall after they release a few rounds of bug fixes I may be ready to upgrade :-)

I agree. I can't wait to see how it actually works. These features would have saved me dozens of hours transcoding to DVCProHD with MPSC, and hours of frustration with LHD (which isn't suitable for the lectures and other long, continuous-shot events I do).

I just finished watching all the video's of the Studio apps over at Apple and this is some very serious upgrades!! I mean SoundTrack Pro would be worth the $700 upgrade (the price from just FCP to the whole studio suite) never mind the multi-cam editing and super integration! Those Apple guy's never cease to amaze me at the quality of features they cram into such an inexpensive program package.

Yes, Soundtrack looks fantastic. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

And Motion has some basic 3D stuff now as well. I'm still an After Effects junkie, but Motion 2.0 might get me to spend more time there than 1.0 did.

Hey guys, I'm thinking about totally switching to Mac, and FC Studio looks really juicy, but am I right in thinking it will still include Livetype?

I look at the cost of FC Studio at $1200, for compositing, video editing (hardware accel right with RT Extreme?), DVD Studio, Loop based music and can't help but think that's a phenomenal price compared to what I'd pay for Vegas + DVDA + ACID + whatever is a comparable compositor.

If it includes livetype that's even better - I've played with that in FCE and I really like it for what I do. Vegas titling is terrible.
