External Monitor --has the pukes!
OK, I've got a project in FCP4 - wanting to monitor it
externally...I'm firewired into a Sony DVMC-DA2 then RCA'd into a Sony Trinitron monitor. From the timeline, the 1st frame shows up on the monitor then freezes (as the timeline continues to play in FCP) I went into othert FCP projects, and they played just fine on the external monitor? any idea what's up? |

Hello Scott,
Well the obvious would say it's project related from your description. If you moved the playhead forward and played from there, does it show the same symptoms? Peter |

Hi, I have a similar issue as Scott.
My external monitor only shows clips when the playhead has stopped - nothing during playback. I'm pretty certain all my A/V settings are correct, Audio is fine, and as I say I get a picture on the monitor just not while the clip is playing. I'm not using HD and it is not a project specific fault - this occurs across all projects. I've seen this problem posted quite a lot across the Net, but have not found an answer yet - hopefully someone here can help. Cheers Carl |

I'm not using FCP (I use FCE), but when I don't have everything rendered my external monitor only shows still frames when the clip/timeline is stopped. If you've applied a filter to the master clip and not rendered it, you'll get the same thing. Don't know if this will help or not, just a thought.
