Where To Get Wires For My Harddrive
Hi,
Wondering where people buy the electrical cords for their external harddrives. For some reason my three pin wire doesn't work in my Lacie anymore. I borrowed a friend's wire and hers worked so I know it is not the Lacie drive. It is definitely the wire. Any idea where I can buy just the wire? Thanks, Sharon |

Not sure which wire. Is it Firewire 400 (6 pins), Firewire 800 (9 pins), USB 2.0 (4 pins) or eSATA (flat looking thing)? Or is it the A/C cable (big block rectangular thing)? Tells us the model of your drive and we might be able to know what you are talking about.

3-pin wire = Power supply.
I'd try Radio Shack first; they may have a universal power supply that has the right pin and power requirements. Try looking up any electronics retailer (somebody more specialized than Best Buy) who deals with computer/hard-drive power supplies - probably not too many in Bozeman MT. If nothing else contact LaCie to order the specific cord/power supply that you need. |

Thanks Chris and Robert. Robert - I totally enjoy how you now understand my jibberish. Thanks!!!!
I found some places online that sell it. It is way more expensive than I was hoping. Sadly our Radio Shack here doesn't sell it. I might just use the one I have from another drive and buy another power cord when I have some money. Thanks for the help! |
