Things to be aware of....
I was just taking a look at the new Nehalem quad core Mac Pro....but I was trying
to remember the reasons I had read to get the 'octo' core instead. It may have been something to do with the RAM limitation on the quad core....but I can't remember for sure. I'd be editing regular DV and XDcam EX with it, so it seems like it would work just fine, not sure if the $800 'upgrade' to the octo core is worth it.....but if there is some significant limitation of the quad core, maybe it is. Anyone with one or the other of these machines care to weigh in? |

I have two OCTO machines and a Quad G5 (non intel of course).
These machines fly while the Quad is merely adequate. It depends what you are trying to do with the box. But maybe the economy will necessitate being a bit more thrifty. -C |
