MBP display port adapter

I just bought a MBP. I also bought a display port adapter that has a DVI output connector. I want to plug it into a DVI monitor. I compared the 2 connectors; they are similar but not exactly the same.
What should I be looking for in an extension cable to go from the Display Port Adapter into a monitor with DVI??

Thanks

It is the difference between DVI-I and DVI-D.
The "I" includes extra pins to allow for analog conversion (ie, making it VGA).
You should go for a DVI-D extension cable.
