Software to dump DV tapes to Mac, without using iMovie/FCP? at DVinfo.net

I once used a small Windows app that transfered the actual DV file off a tape and onto the harddrive. No dropouts, no sync issues...it was a straight and simple copy operation.

Is there anything like that for Os X? OR...even better...is there a way to do that via the Terminal?
