AIC in a ProRes timeline=multiple crashes during audio edit

I have three clips in a ProRes 1440x1080i60 sequence. Two were capture into FCP ProRes, the other was captured into iMovie08 1920x1080 AIC.

Curiously, the AIC clip shows up as 1440x1080 in the Properties database.

When rendering the T/L I get an error about the codec not supporting the frame size (??)

I finished the rough cut and now am working on the sound track, adjusting levels and normalizing.

First I separated one camera's stereo channels into two, moving one, copying the other and placing it into the original R channel...FCP crashed.

Next I just muted the R channel and moved the Pan for the L channel to center. Then I was working on levels, adjusting the keyframes, and up popped the twirling beach ball of death.

I sent off the report and tried 'er agin. Same thing--while editing the keyframes and playing back, it hangs, then crashes.

All audio clips report in as 48khz 16bit.

Any ideas?

Trash pref files and reboot would be my first step.

It is curious that fcp is not seeing the full raster 1080 files as full raster.
Are your drives keeping up?

I just restarted and tried it again, saving after every few actions. Seems to be stable now.

anyway, I finished the segment.

How would I know if the drives were not keeping up?
