Format Questions
Hello,
I am new to Final Cut and I am about ready to start my first edit with my new system. The project was shot on the HVX200 at 1080 24p. My system has a Kona 3 card and I will be exporting to the PDW-HD1500 XDCAM deck. This deck records 1080i 50 Mb/s using MPEG HD422. I will either go HD-SDI from the Kona card to the deck or go Ethernet from the computer to the deck. What should my project and timeline settings be in Final Cut? Thanks in advance for all of your help! Scott |

Just curious, are you using the HD1500 for only in-house work, as I have yet to see any broadcasters accept optical discs from this unit.

We are using this deck to master all of our projects to. There is at least 1 station in our area that accepts XDCAM HD masters. I don’t know if they accept the 50mb/s form of XDCAM but it is my understanding that this deck will also record in the XDCAM HD 35mb/s format. We will have to get dubs made to other formats as required.

Liam,
Our PDW-HD1500 does not yet have the ability to record in 23.98. It only records at 30fps. So if I edit in 23.98 then where will the frame rate be converted to 30fps for the layoff? Thanks Scott |
