FCP 6.0.4 Crashing

So i just bought a MacPro, and Final Cut is STILL crashing when attempting to capture a full hours worth of tape. Is anyone able to actually capture a full hour of tape using ProRes (HQ)? Specs Bellow:
MacPro:
2 2.8ghz Quad Core Xeon Processors
2gbs of ram.
Leopard 10.5.5
Final Cut Pro 6.0.4.
Thanks for any experience or advice.

Currently I'm having the same issues. Good thing we recorded to HDD as well which made capturing a redundancy but still...

After the program crashed twice near the end of the tape, negating all of the captured clips as unusable files, I resorted to capturing about 20 min of footage and then stopping. Then logging and capturing the next 20 min of the tape and stopping. etc. Ridiculous procedure. There were no tape errors at the end of the tape.

And I've done the preferences dump, etc. restarted my computer multiple times.

A full hour of ProRes HQ capture almost requires a really fast hard drive- like a nice ESATA RAID. I suspect you are experiencing memory issues as the capture rate is simply too high for your hard drives. Not sure what sort of footage you're capturing but I'd suggest logging and capturing in 10 minute chunks or clip by clip and then starting a batch.

FCP 6.0.4 is also crashing on my Mac Pro when using avc x.264 video (Casio EX-F1 video)....you can preview the clip perfectly but FCP crashes when it's placed on the timeline and you try to view the clip for editing- anyone know anything?
