Moving m2t from PC to Mac
Hi Guys,
I have a small problem. I have several tapes converted using dvhscap and stored on one of the Iomega external hard drives. All this was done on my PC. When I look on the drive on my pc the file extensions are all .m2t (tape1.m2t for example) and show the open with vlc media player icon. However, when I connect to my Mac and look inside the drive all of the files are .m2t.mpg and they show the quicktime logo (tape1.m2t.mpg for example) Like this they will not drag into Clipwrap. I've tried to rename them to just m2t but every time I do this and press enter they revert back to m2t.mpg. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks in advance, Greg. |

Sounds to me like the permissions are locked on your hard drive. It might not be possible to change them depending on how it was formatted on the PC.
I'm sure that if you looked at the properties of those files on the PC you would also see .m2t.mpg. I don't know of a way to batch change the suffix on a bunch of files but you will have to change them to m2t for ClipWrap to recognize them. If you can't get around the permissions issue then you will have to copy them to another drive, preferably HFS formatted.

Thanks Tim.
I have another iomega that I will re-format to hfs and then copy those files over and see if it makes any difference. At the moment I have both drives formatted for PC, do you really think this could be the problem?. I 'll let you know how I get on. Greg P.S. I think I double posted so please feel free to delete the other post, sorry. |

Greg,
The upcoming ClipWrap 1.0.2 (just trying to fix one last bug before releasing) will allow you to open or drag and drop files with the .mpg extension. For now you'll need to rename them. mike |

Thanks mike managed to rename in the end but now realise that Clipwrap can't handle my hour long tape files. Will the 1.0.2 update fix this?
Regards Greg. P.S. love the way it hacks through my files created on my firestore. If you could just fix the above issue I think it would be perfect. |
