Media Pulldown in FCP?

Hello,

I just got done with a project, everything looked great, but once I'd burned out the DVD I noticed a flicker on the backdrop of the text templates that I'd used from Motion.

It's odd because they don't show up when playing in my Canvas. I asked the guy who copied the DVD what the problem was and he told me that I should do a 'Media pulldown' .

He edits on AVID, does anyone know to perform the equivalent in FCP?

thanks

Check the Motion files and make sure they have the correct field order for your project sequence. In Final Cut select the file in question and pick "Item Properties / Format" under the edit menu (or cmd-9). A chart will come up and you'll see "Field Dominance" listed. If you are working in DV then the file should be "lower field first". If this doesn't work (I almost never use Motion) you'll probably have to open your Motion project and make sure it's set to the same codec as your FCP project and re-render the file. Mixing files with different field orders causes a "flicker" or strange motion problems.

Unfortunately editing and only using your computer monitor for reference masks these problems as the computer is sending a progressive scan to the monitor and most television is interlaced. Interlacing is where field order is important.
