Since you're going to invest in a new powerhouse (as am I) consider that the lowly ATI 2600XT beats even a Quadro gfx card on Core Image effects (powering most of Apple's pro apps like FCP and Motion).

Now that ATI will be releasing the 3870 series as a Mac edition, you really should consider one - or two, if they produce an X2, one board version.

And don't buy your hard drives ( but think Samsung Spinpoint) or memory from Apple. They are insanely and unnecessarily expensive.
