Anyone using the Dell ULTRASHARP 2408WFP?
I'm eyeing one (or two) Dell ULTRASHARP 2408WFP monitors and I was wondering who is using them and what their impressions are for working with FCP and Color. Any tips on their fidelity and calibration? Etc.
Also, i know that from back in the CRT days, if you were going to have a dual-monitor set-up it was best to buy both monitors at the same time in order to get a match. Perhaps this was an urban myth, i don't know but the explanation about manufacturing theme and variances from lot to lot makes sense… I was wondering if the same stands true for LCDs. If I want to have two, is it best to wait to get both at once, or am I fine to get one now and the second when I truly have the $$$ to spend?

I'm sure you've searched, but in case you've missed them:
http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=116972 http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=122485 Having looked at it for sometime with the idea of using it as an external monitor for color correction... I've decided not get one as it really doesn't have sufficient controls. The general consensus seems to be that you need something like the matrox mxo for better color correction without moving up to a studio/broadcast monitor. However, it's a great monitor for running your apps on. I've no idea about "matching" LCDs. |
