compositing with fcp at DVinfo.net

Hello,
I've just started making an opening sequence approx. 25 sec. for a video project approx 8-10min.
It consists of many (12-16) moving frames of video over an animated background with some kind of animated text for a title.
I'm using FCP's compositing function with nested sequences. I'm finding that I'm going to end up with a s**t load of sequences. Is this going to crate a problem?
Am I crazy for trying to do this with just FCP and not using Motion or AE? unfortunately I have no experience with those.
System is based on a MacPro quad core. Using Prores codec HDV.
