Capture tape from XLH1 into FCP

I've been using the firestore to capture to Final Cut, so I've forgotten the proper setup for capturing from tape, and now I need to capture a tape.

Using FCS latest version and latest system software and Mac Octo.

I used to use settings as follows:

Sequence preset: Apple prores 422 HQ 1440x1080p 48k

Capture preset HDV

Device control: Firewire

The blue light next to the firewire plug on the camera is on, which would indicate that firewire is working.

However, when I go to "Log and Capture" I get this alert:

"Device is not connected or the capture preset is not setup correctly. You may still log offline clips.

This might also happen if you play DV footage in an HDV device."

I have tried both "VCR play" and "Ext control" on the camera.

I have also tried connecting firewire to both the front and the back "D" firewire plugs on the computer.

Still no dice.

I could swear that this worked before, since I wrote it down.

But since then I have updated FCP.

Can anyone help?

Harry.
