HDV to DV Pan and Scan?
Hello all,
I have heard of many videographers who shoot HDV and then, since they are downconverting to SD for DVD, use the extra resolution to pan or reframe a shot. I was wondering where I might find an explanation of the workflow on how this is done. For instance, start with an HDV or SD timeline, and downconvert later. And possibly a brief explanation of the actual steps taken to do the panning. Thanks in advance! |

If you are doing this work specifically for SD, then make your comp or sequence in SD. Beware of doing this in final cut pro. I would use after effects, because you can interpret the HDV footage and de-interlace it ("seperate fields: upper" in the drop down menu). If you let final cut do this it shifts fields and looks like crap. There seemed to be alot of talk of downconverting problems from HDV to SD (with final cut) here in the forums. But I don't think it's a problem with after effects.
